NYC Foto Safari is the brain child of Ruth Gitto (me). I was born and raised in New York City, and, truthfully, I love it. It's a photographer's paradise, with diversity of subjects, such as: street scenes; people; sunsets and sunrises; bridges; parks; architecture; scenery; nature, and more.
I started shooting at a very early age because my dad was a photographer and wanted to share his passion with me. While my goal in life was not to be a photographer, I always worked in related industries and attended various training schools including the Leica School, the Nikon School, and the Rollie School. For sixteen years I taught photography Huntington. Over the years ...
I owned and operated a camera store
Taught photography
Was an independent Representative in the Audio Visual industry
Worked in sales for the world's 2nd largest Professional Broadcast Dealer
Finally, in 2005 I decided that I wanted to do more than just store my photographs in a box. It was time for me to come out of the closet and start showing my work. My photographs appeared in various juried shows:
As I've continued photographing it occurred to me that it would be wonderful to teach again, and share my knowledge with others, just as my father had shared his knowledge with me. Since I live in one of the most interesting and beautiful cities in the world it seems to me that using New York City as our subject matter is perfect. Not only can I share my knowledge and passion for photography, but I can also bring you to some of the most interesting places in New York City most tourist (and even natives) never see.
